Preparation: Before beginning, ensure you have all necessary tools and have reviewed the provided installation manual and video. Disconnect your vehicle's battery to avoid electrical issues.
•Removal of Original Unit: Carefully remove the existing car radio unit from your Ford Explorer's dashboard. This may involve unscrewing trim pieces and disconnecting wiring harnesses.
•Wiring Connections: Connect the new unit's wiring harness to the vehicle's wiring harness. The system is designed for plug-and-play, ensuring that connections are straightforward. For SYNC 2 and SYNC 3 systems, ensure that the original CD player and SYNC module are moved to the back of the new unit.
•Antenna and USB Placement: Route the GPS antenna, USB cables, and microphone to your desired locations within the dashboard.
•Mounting: Securely mount the new head unit into the dashboard. Ensure all connections are properly secured and the unit is flush with the dash.
•Testing: Reconnect the vehicle's battery. Test all features including radio, GPS navigation, CarPlay/Android Auto, and steering wheel controls. If there are issues, see the troubleshooting steps in the manual and FAQs.
•Final Check: Once satisfied, reassemble the dash trim pieces.
Important Notes:
◦For SYNC2 and SYNC3 systems, the original CD player and SYNC module must be retained and moved to the back of the new unit.
◦If you have a SYNC1 system, you do not need to keep the CD player and SYNC module.
◦If you experience issues, double check the wiring connections and consult the manual.
